Hi guys, as some of you had known, i work as a preschool teacher. Seriously, a preschool teacher? Yup. I was graduated in 2009, with Bachelor Degree in Teachership, majoring in Preschool under joint collaboration program between Malaysia Ministry of Education and Open University Malaysia. I never thought i would end up with this kind of career but hey, i think i am one of the luckiest person doing the job that i am really passionate about(not to mention how it had influenced me in many ways). I really enjoy having a conversation with them as well as teaching them the basic knowledge of formal teaching (ABC's, 123's, etc) and sharing moral value about life. For every kids that i had the chances to teach, i only wish the best for them. I always had this thought that if we as an adult right now, find a lot of difficulites in our daily life, i just can't imagine how will their generations will face and overcome the challenge in their life, in the future. I hope, with my photography skills, i can preserve the moment once everyone cherish about.Our childhood memories.

Its weekend again, so here we go, another portrat of my son, Cleo. This little guy now know how to love (or eat) the baby biscuit. I forgot the name of it but it comes with many types of flavor but Cleo don't really mind about that as long as he can put it into his mouth. Just another way for me to express how i miss home and them. By the way, i wish everyone in a good health for the weekend. Remember, family first. God bless.

I was searching my hardisk for some stuff to post this weekend and i come out to find this simple portrait of an old Dusun lady playing a traditonal musical instrument made from a bamboo. During the old times in Borneo, bamboo or what most of the Dusun people known as "poring" is a very useful stuff in making gadgets, not to mention, it was once largely use as a main stuff to build their house, just a few decades ago. I am a Dusun guy myself and i am proud of being one. Have a great weekend everyone.

So, this is another portrait shot. Just kiding. As you can see, its a cat. I call her Miow because she knows when i do the "miow" sound, she came to me and everytime i walk to the kitchen, she ran so fast until i always stumble my feet on her. I'm not really a fan of a pet, but it doesnt mean i hate them, i do love them, its just the "other" stuff that makes me think more than twice to adopt one. But i think, cat just love me with no reason.lol. So here she goes, just another weekend photo to share.

About : I shoot this guy last year when he was foging the area. I was using a slow shutter to create that motion effect. To be true, it was accidentally shot this way since that time, i know little about slow shutter. But hey, i truly love how the result comes out. This is one of my old times favourite photo. It always remind me, the important of learning process in photography. One very important thing i learn is, you just don't compare yourself with others. Work on your own pace in photography, keep learning and never give up. Just the moment you had that thought that you know everyhthing, stop it, and find stuff that is rare to your knowledge and learn again. Once a beginner, always a beginner. Have a great day guys!

NATURE: JUST A LITTLE BIT

I am a fan of nature. I try my best doing the little part to keep the world a better place to live. In fact, before starting my day job career right now, i was once doing my bachelor in conservation biology related course in one of the local university before i decide to turn to another life path which bring me to the place i am now, something which i adore just the same way with how photography had came so significant in my life. So, you can make a big difference too, even with that little stuff other might care less. Start with something small, which will always lead to a bigger something. Who knows, right? So here are some photos, which is something beautiful in my eyes, to share with you, with a meaning to tell, let's conserve our nature.

All this photos was taken last year when i still, first learning about my very own DSLR. I love landscape and nature, its just i am more into portrait photography now. Hoping that one day, i'll be able to capture my very own milky way shot. By the way, for such a begginer, im happy with the result. The most important thing in learning is never quit to try.Just never give up. I saw a lot of friends, quiting photography just because they don't make any progress. I am not sure what kind of "progress" but yes, sometimes, i do feel the same too. So, you see, in photography, its not only you have to love what you are doing, keeping the love all the way consistently through the good and bad times is something what matter the most. LOUIS PANG: GEAR & ACCESORIES

So what are the gear, Louis Pang, an international destination wedding photographer had as photography accesories under his belt? Last year, i managed to join a workshop oraganized by Sabah Profesional Photographic Society, taken place at Berjaya Palace Hotel, Sabah and he had been invited as a main speaker on that workshop. So at least i am exposed with the so called, guerilla lighting style, which was improvised by him from his mentor, Joe Mcnally. In case you doesn't know, Louis had devoted one month of his time joining the legend and king of lighting Joe Mcnally just to learn himself a better understanding how light and lighting works. Im not Louis bestfriends, or either with Joe, in fact, they even doesn't know who i am but i read their blog. You see, i really learn from the best, am i, no? Joke, guys~ lol

So here we go, some of the photo taken during the workshop, yes including the super-high-tech-gear that not average photogs can afford, not to mention Nikon D3S body and Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 gun attached with it. Btw, to all photogs, its always good to invest some portion of money for workshop for a better expose in a world of photography.

So that's it. Not forget to mention the Macbook Pro he use to edit all his shots, then you try to figure out the cost of all the items!then try to compare the value with any other sport car that comes in the same figure. Fairlady? Subaru?or Vios? you tell me. :) Such an idol an inspiration which had too much to envy about!

Yes, a baby portrait session featuring Cleo di Ollidang Jelvy, my son. Taken this shot when he was 5 months old. He is almost 8th now. Thanks to Kuai, my wife aka my assistant to catch Cleo attention in front of the camera. I wish someone can do the film footage both the reaction of us during that session.Hilarious! By the way, its a great time for all of us as a family. Doing something that you love with your love ones, i call it quality in life. Blessings!

By the way, shooting babies is never an easy task. In fact, one of the toughest since u cant ask them to pose the way u want. So, patiently, you wait and just before you almost get that moment, they start to cry, hungry i guess. So the "patience" mode goes over again.So, nuff talking for now. I was honoured to have been appointed as the photographer, to capture their family portrait. As in the very beginning of the discussion, Nelly told me that she want to have a family portrait session in September as a remembrance for their anniversary. The month of September is a a very special month for us and we would like to have a family portrait session, in words she added. She opted for outdoor session and as i suggest, we also did indoor session which take place at the comfort of their home, considering that Aidan is just a little older than 3 months old and too much expose with the outside weather is just not so good for little babies like him. So, here we are, enjoy some of the shots during the session.

SIPADAN : MY VERY OWN STORY OF LOVE

Its not really about portrait or wedding photography on this post, its something i just feel to blog about. We got the chances to come to Sipadan during mid year school break holiday last year and i can tell you that the experience is just awesome! Triple awesome!. Its a moment to remember for both of us, my wife and me. We will looking forward for a spot for the year end school holiday. Yes, this time its gonna be a lot of different since we got the little 'boss', Cleo.

This is Mabul. It will take around 40 to 60 minutes from the jetty in Semporna. You can't stay overnight in Sipadan and the nearest island you can stay overnight is here, Mabul Island.

This is it, the island of Sipadan. Not so much for a non-landscape photographer, huh. It takes around 30 minutes from Mabul to reach Sipadan.

and thats the turtle conservation center in Sipadan, and my wife is a little tired and decide to turn herself to be a female turtle on that day.I'm kiding.

At last, me. Thanks to Girlyen for the shot. You see, thats the catch being a photographer, its hardly to find you own photo in your own album. Haish~

Shoot this during my portraiture project like four months ago.

To improve in photography, other than investing in such a pricey gear, in order to improve, we should consider to join a workshop for more exposure. What i can recall from both workshop i attend is more than a formal photography book can tell, and that is the things i apply in every assignments that been assigns to me, its more than photography technicalities. Agree?

Red Riding Hood part 2 : too much photoshop.

So another shots from my portraiture project, the so called, red riding hood. This time, it involved a very heavy editing which is influence by Adam Alex, one of the top photographer based in UK. If only im on top of the game~ how i wish~ Dream high, guys, dream as high as you can and work hard to live your dreams.

I did a lot of try and error method in my post proccesing work in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Thats the catch when you learn eveything from everyhthing including self taught and mr. google. I never had a proper learning experience in photoshop. But then, its always a good practise to get the best shot from your camera at the first place. Everyone will agree with that.

Red Riding Hood by Jelvy Jae Photography

As many of u guys had known and seen, Red Riding Hood is a very first portraiture project done by Jelvy Jae Photography with a collaboration from Belz Anthony, a super talented make up artist based in Penampang, Sabah. And the model? someone did ask me last time, "oh, she is a local?" Of course this gorgeous twilight artist is one of Sabahan very own home grown beauty that is now, had written a high portfolio in local modeling arena. Well, who doesn't know May Yunna. All the photographers loves her in their shots. Okay, im exageratting here. But yes, she is truly someone you can count in front of your camera, proffesionaly.

So, the second post is now done. But just before that, i would like to thank my co photographer that day, Mr Joseh Ravent Anthony from JC Photography, based in Penampang and Tambunan. I envy his 7D body and long list of L lens under his belt now. Haish~

And another thing, the red hood will be not be as good as it is that day if its not because of my wife, with her very own independant label now, Kuai Tahir the sewing mom. I had a few stuff from her handcraft including my custom dslr strap and sling bag. Both the black dress and the red hood was made by her. Such an awesome mother, wife and ex-girlfriend to me~ blessed! love u, ma~

Black and White Vintage

For those who follow and like my facebook page, you probably seen the Vintage Love Album featuring the gorgeous Shu Qi, ops, Natalie James Ligunjang and Aizat (i remember call him , Isaac all the time during the shooting session, embarassing!) So Natalie use to work with Borneo Eco Spa, now she had gone from Sabah to further her studies in KL. Such a unique, rare talent to have in Sabah. A natural, simply gorgeous young lady who will, soon rock the world. Aizat is a lot to talk about to, a man who live with music. He had a band which i hardly recall the group name. Huhu, my bad~ and we had a litle chat during the session that we might do some collaboration again to shot his band profile photo. Soon!

Welcoming words

Its a succes, at last after a lots of hours killing the time, i managed to rebuild aka reconstructing my blogsite.Did i say blogsite? yup, sure it is. It used to be my blog a few days ago before i was decided an upgrade to have my very own unique domain. the so called jelvyjae.com. WELCOME!!!
So, as everyone knows, im the guy who always talk about camera, to be more specific, photography. Hey, did anyone knows that Canon origin names is Kwanon. I just found that out and i was like, now-i-only-know. Enough talking Socrates, let me tell you the very first secrets of this blog or blogsite. Its actually a medium, somekind of telecomunication between me, my photography works and assigments, and the world, which means you, the one who, at the time now, reading this post.So, its not really a big secret, yes?

So, i think i had enough for the time being, enough welcoming talk already. So guys, if its happen, you come across to my photoblog someday, again, let me know you are here.
